Benefits of a College Degree

September 3, 2008

As fall descends upon us, it’s back to school for the kids.  And it may be back to school for those who graduated from high school last spring.  You see, those young adults are faced with decision to make about whether to go on to college or get a job.

Usually the first benefit that anyone considers when deciding to obtain a college degree is the potential for extra income that is usually generated by a college graduate. Another benefit to consider is the opportunity to work in a field you really enjoy with people of similar interests and education.  Depending on the field of endeavor, job security may be an added benefit.

Although a college graduate may not be able to find a job in their exact chosen field, they may find that they have become more employable in general due to the addition of a degree to their resume. Obtaining a college degree seems to verify to an employer that the graduate now has the ability to complete a long-term task and will therefore make a better employee.
